My Piano Story, in Brief

I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. I majored in Music Technology and Piano Performance, studying both classical and jazz.

My parents started me on piano at an early age. I took lessons through Capital University's community music school in Columbus, OH. I also took drum lessons and sang in various choirs. Thanks, Mom and Dad!

I've lived in Montclair since 2018 with my wife Margo, a wonderful interior designer, and our 2 children. We love the creative, supportive community and the many cultural events in the area.

Software and Melodies

After graduating music school I took a "slight detour" for ~20 years working in the software industry. It was a lot of fun. There are a lot of similarities between music and software engineering. They both demand that the left & right brain work together as one.

But something was missing. During Covid I decided to leave Tech and return to music 100%. I'm glad I did. I love sharing my love of all types of music with my students. I enjoy helping them learn to play a song/piece that's important to them. I love the challenge of breaking down musical concepts and techniques for each individual so they really understand them and make continual progress.
